Ellie's Birthday, part 1: Lunch

Getting a birthday greeting from Gigi as we drove to her lunch at Chuck E Cheese.

The place was a hit with both kids...

this snowmobile game blew air -- which caught Ellie by surprise

Reni couldn't get enough of this animatronic.  I think he thought it was real.

It didn't take this boy long to learn that coins magically turned everything "on"!

The sweet girl behind the prize counter let Ellie have this slinky, which was about 30% more than the number of tickets we had won.  I think she understood that for the amount of money we paid for one pizza, she could have given us 10 more.  Ellie was thrilled and completely unaware that she could have been going home with a jelly bracelet instead.

Supper that night was a cookout on the deck with Meredith and Crum, our two college friends who lived with us until the end of June.  Crum (his first name is Nathan) and Ellie share the same birthday!  Meredith took this set of photos for us so we could enjoy the cake moment and supervise the present opening.

The "Flag Day" birthday buddies.  Dressing in red-white-and-blue is becoming somewhat a tradition for Ellie, especially now that she recognizes the American flag and proudly points it out wherever it is flying or on whatever it is painted!
Check back tomorrow for part 2:  Launching the Lanterns!
