Sunday in Tirana

For pretty good reason, Nathan was pretty wiped out at the end of Sunday, so he asked if I would supply the text for today's post. He was happy to take Reni to church this morning with Vera. He said that Reni promptly fell asleep during worship and woke up when the pastor gave the final amen at the end of the service.

In keeping with our tradition, they stopped at our favorite coffee bar for something cool to drink following the service.

Did that cold Nescafe` can taste good, Reni?

Nathan said that Reni is waking fairly frequently during the evening (about every 90 minutes to be exact). Understanding his cries has been quite challenging. Often he reaches for his neckline or waist to scratch at a rash that no longer exists. At first Nathan thought the clothes he had selected were just uncomfortable, but began to realize that scratching at the rash Reni had for over a month had probably become a habit.
On the other hand, Reni enjoys following Nathan around the house. If Nathan moves from room to room to put away laundry or tidy up, he will regularly turn around to find Reni already underfoot laughing that he's 'caught' him. Reni's also figured out how to feed himself with his fingers, something that the little ones never got to do in the orphanage. The other day he snagged a Dorito from Nathan and proceeded to lick it on both sides before eating it. He moved on from Doritos to Fruit Loops and Gerber Graduates.
Nathan has passed a lot of time in the apartment Skyping with family. Reni now knows the telltale chime of an incoming Skype call. He crawls over to the computer and pulls himself up to see what face will appear on the computer next. I'm just afraid he's going to start calling Nathan's laptop "Mama".
Tomorrow (Monday) the two guys have a series of appointments and the formalities will be largely through!

How wonderful to find the new post and precious pictures! As Reni continues to adjust, I'm sure his cries in the night will become less frequent. This time next week, Nathan and Reni will be coming home!

Be encouraged to realize that your families and your large network of friends continue to pray for all four of you!
