"Next year I'll be a teenager," she says!

Ellie's birthday happened to fall during our days of strategic planning at our mission.  And a family skate night was already planned the particular evening of her birthday at an historic roller rink.  At first she was disappointed to not be able to 'choose' how to spend her birthday, but by the end of the day, her brother was obviously envious at all the love and attention Ellie got to experience with her mission family that day...

But before I share those images, the kids LOVE to see their growth in their annual 'birthday collage'.

She was happy with the birds adoring her cake...

Nathan thanked our friends for celebrating Ellie with us...

Some of our special friends prayed a prayer of blessing on her...

Contrary to the way it may appear, I was not trying to be one of those cool waitresses on roller skates... I just knew if I took them off, they were not going to be getting back on!

Reni figured out his own way to join us in the rink!  See the video here:  https://youtu.be/V6gvL9xJgmE

Ellie getting birthday greetings by phone from one of her grandparents...

This blurry cell phone pic is the only evidence I have that she attempted the roller-skating 'thing'.  It was a bit tricky but she tried!

This past year has been a really good one for Ellie.  We have seen her mature markedly and less anxious to try new things.  She has started piano lessons, continued to progress on her guitar and spend more time with a pencil and paper sketching and drawing.  But most of all, we continue to find pride in her loving and tender heart.

Ellie, we are so blessed to have you in our family!  Thank you for modeling an obedient heart, that seeks to love God and others.  We can't imagine life without you in it!
